Since 2004, Detroit Women of Color, Inc. has used film to lift the stories of girls and women of color.  We are committed to integrating film and social justice to offer a fresh lens, highlighting the beauty, strength, resilience, and truth of girls and women of color. We produce the critically acclaimed Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival.

to stay connected with our students and finding ways to help our participants thrive during this pandemic.

RESILIENT LOVE

Our Resilient Love Our workshops for girls between the ages of 11 and 18 years old, uses film and art as a tool to promote self-love and sisterhood. We encourage young women to define their own path.

Since 2004, the Detroit Women of Color, Inc. has distinguished itself from other local film festivals and programs through a focus on independent films that highlight the voices of girls, women, and people of color. We produced the Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival, the Sacred Waters Spirituality Film Festival, the 3Rs Progressive Film Festival, and the United States Social Forum Film Festival.  In 2019 our critically acclaimed Detroit Women of Color International Film Festival returned.
